McMaster FINALLY puts forth mask mandate

Despite previous refusals to issue a mask mandate, Governor McMaster has finally given in, but only by an inch. The mask order went into effect at 5PM yesterday and requires restaurants to only seat 50% capacity, and that guests inside of them must wear a mask except when eating/drinking or communicating with a Deaf person. Children under 2 and those with disabilities that endanger them while wearing a mask are also exempt, though nothing has been said about whether these people are required to wear a face shield (pictured below).

The mandate—and its exceptions—also applies to those working in government buildings, as well as in counties that do not yet have mask requirements of their own. McMaster emphasized that this measure is only temporary and is to allow the economy to remain open.

Additionally, the consequence for failing to comply with the mandate is stricter than that of Fort Mill's, though still minimal: a misdemeanor charge and, if convicted, either a $100 fine or 30-day jail sentence.
